African RCE network has Expanded Since the last Global RCE Conference seven new RCEs have been acknowledged: RCE Lusaka (Zambia) RCE Mutare (Zimbabwe) RCE Greater Pwani (Kenya) RCE Nyanza (Kenya) RCE Greater Eastern Uganda RCE Greater Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) RCE Buea (Cameroon)

African RCE network still Expanding Four RCE Candidates in 2013: RCE Central Kenya RCE Harare (Zimbabwe) RCE Mount Kenya East (Kenya) RCE Greater Kampala (Uganda)

Visibility of African RCEs Enhanced RCEs showcased their ESD activities through workshops, events and regional conferences, e.g.: Kakamega Workshop – attended by RCEs from East Africa 3rd African RCE continental meeting – attended by 14 RCEs Environmental Education Association of Southern Africa Conference in Malawi – attended by RCEs from southern Africa Increased interaction with policy makers, e.g. participation of Governor of Niger State in the 3rd African RCE meeting

Capacities to Deliver ESD Strengthened Implementation of the Capacity Development Programme for African RCEs in 2013 focused on: Improving transformative learning processes Strengthening governance and coordination mechanisms with reference to Ubuntu philosophy Sharing community-engaged research case studies. Contribution to ESD series publication to be launched later – the e-book will supplement capacity development programme.
