Online Application (continued) If you work at more than one college in the LA District, write Los Angeles Community College District. For those working at Glendale, GCC may be your last employer.

Online Application (continued) Date in #27 must match #33g xx/xx/2012 $ 314.29 #27a. To calculate your total gross wages for your last week of work, take your gross semester pay (five paychecks for semester-length class) and divide by 16 weeks. Assignment ended. Future assignment contingent on enrollment, funding, program changes, seniority. I don't have reasonable assurance for assignment.

What’s New at EDD? Old Q 33 asked for total wages in last 18 months. Could be satisfied by looking at W-2s, paystubs, etc. Offered multiple options for how you were paid. 12/16/2011 12/14/2011 New Q 33 asks the questions a little differently requiring more detail information such as hourly rate, hours worked per week, and quarterly earnings for each employer in last 18 months.

What’s Up with Question 33 EDD now asks: i) How much did you earn per hour? j) How many hours did you work per week? k) Gross wages earned for each of the last 6 quarters Designed for those who work same hours each week with one rate of pay Necessary for implementation of Alternate Base Period, which is good news for some Not designed for adjunct instructors who have: Breaks between semesters Different loads during different semesters Different number of hours in different weeks Different hourly rates of pay Different employers (i.e., freeway flyer) aykm

EDD Help Screen and Alternate Base Period GOOD NEWS: If you do not have sufficient wages in the Standard Base Period to establish a claim, EDD will consider the Alternate Base Period. However, you must answer Yes in Q 33b.

Let’s Take These Challenges One At A Time Q 33i: How much you earn per hour For LACCD suggest using: Semester pay  16 weeks  hours assigned per week = Hourly pay If hourly rate was different in previous semesters, don’t worry. There is no place to explain on application form. If you are paid more than one hourly rate, consider using a simple average. Won’t be precise unless a weighted average is calculated, but should be satisfactory for EDD.

Next Challenge Q 33j: How many hours you work per week Suggestion: enter the total number of hours assigned per week in most recent semester. Does not take into account prep time, grading, holidays, etc. but should include all hours for which you are normally paid. Don’t worry if you had different assignment types (instructional, non-instructional, lab, etc.) with different pay rates. There is no place to explain on the application form.

I’ll try that. Phyllis: if you are really having trouble, you can still use the mail-in application—EDD has not changed it yet. Phone in application is an option too.
