Conclusion and Outlook Multiple Cutting Tip Turning Tool Bit Structure Lukasz Wysocki Songhao Wang Mechanical Engineering Department, Kun Shan University, Taiwan Tel:06-2051833, Fax:06-2050509, E-mail: songhaow@hotmail.com Abstract During multiply cutting tools decrease time which is necessary for manufacturing parts in one operation. Instead of one knife as in classical turning machines apply four (or more) tools with simply mechanism for changing distance between cutting edge and center axis. Tools with mechanism create one module which can be replaced instead of old tool support. Introduction Turning is one of the basics and popular process not only in mechanical engineering but also in wood (furniture) industry, plastic parts etc. In all cases turning process in classical machines looks similar. On modern CNC and HSM machines turning process can looks different. But these machines with more that one chuck and two tool supports are more expensive and complicated. This mechanism for four (or more) knifes is simply cheap, easy for replace as part of old tool support in classical turning machines. All parts required for construction of this device are standard. System, which allows change distance each knife between center axis is the key point of these device, and can have many variants. It can be pins and sliders mechanism, cam, lever or another. Adjusting of distance can be by gears or by pneumatic pistons, depend of accuracy and existing cutting forces. Materials & Methods Rapid Prototyping Machine SolidWorks 2010 Cuting plate APKX-1103 Screw and nuts M5 Results Conclusion and Outlook This parts are prototype and required stress analysis in comsol, parts made by RP machine shows only idea, and action of this mechanism. Before application in real turning machine it is necessary to build bigger one prototype made by steel or aluminum. Each kind of turning machines required different construction of new tool support, depend of size end expected efficiency. During small changing of only two parts from all mechanism is possible to change distance between some cutting edges and center axis. Thanks this solution is possible to separated rough machining and finish machining. An Invention Patent has been applied in 02010. 3D model and prototype made by use RP machine Classical turning process with multipal cutting edge machine Separation two steps rough and finish manufacturing in two layers Original turning machine and with new mechanism for four knifes.
