VMware TCO / ROI Calculator The VMware TCO / ROI Calculator was independently developed by leading ROI and TCO consultancy Alinean, Inc. to quantify the potential cost savings that can be obtained from VMware solutions. This tool utilizes industry research and savings estimates based on Alinean research and VMware case studies to quantify the savings from deploying VMware Solutions including Infrastructure Optimization, Disaster Recovery, Application Development and Release Management, and Desktop Virtualization.

Analysis Options Opportunities to address in this analysis: Infrastructure Optimization Solutions ( √ ) VMware Infrastructure (VI) ( ) Lifecycle Management (using VMware vCenter Lifecycle Manager) ( ) Disaster Recovery Solutions Application Development and Release Management Solutions ( ) VMware vCenter Lab Manager ( ) VMware vCenter Stage Manager Desktop Solutions ( ) Desktop Solutions (using VMware View (formerly VDI))

DELETE THIS SLIDE: SECTION NOT USED IN ANALYSIS Analysis Summary This 3‑year analysis for Acme Widgets calculates the estimated total cost of ownership (TCO) comparison between your current (As Is) environment and implementing the proposed VMware solution. Based upon the information provided, the following VMware products: VMware Infrastructure (VI) provide a potential direct savings of $2,252,788 and an indirect savings of $54,000 over 3 years.

DELETE THIS SLIDE: SECTION NOT USED IN ANALYSIS Analysis Summary The projected outcome of this proposed VMware project for Acme Widgets includes: • $2,252,788 in total direct TCO savings over 3 years. • Additional $54,000 in indirect (soft) savings over 3 years. • Overall, an ROI of 608.7% on an initial ($219,844) investment. • An NPV savings of $1,825,175 and a projected payback period of 4 months.

Infrastructure Optimization Solutions This 3-year analysis for Acme Widgets calculates the estimated total cost of ownership (TCO) comparison between your current (As Is) environment and implementing the proposed VMware solution. Total direct TCO savings over 3 years of: $2,252,788 Additional indirect (soft) savings over 3 years of: $54,000 Overall ROI of: 819.0% Total investment of: $281,657 NPV savings of: $1,825,175 IRR of: 354.2% Projected payback period of: 4 months

Infrastructure Optimization Solutions Based upon the information provided for the 100 production server environment, implementing VMware Infrastructure provides the following: • Reduce the number of production servers through virtualization, reducing servers from 100 to 12, a savings of 88.0% - with a target consolidation ratio of 8.3:1. • With the reduction in overall number of production servers, reducing operating power by 35.084 kWatts, cooling power by 43.833 kWatts, and datacenter space requirements by 210 square feet. • A reduction of 924,511 lbs (419 tons) of carbon emissions, equivalent to the average emissions of taking 77 cars off the road per year.
