They secured a lift from one of their colleagues to Nizwa and continued to Muscat by taxi. Their aim was to pick up a car (Jeep Cherokee) belonging to another colleague and return to Yibal in time for work starting at 1300Hrs on Monday 05/03/01. They left Muscat at approximately 0930 Hrs and at 1130Hrs were on the Nizwa-Izz section of the highway when they sustained a blow-out to the offside rear wheel of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the road on the right and into the ditch, they slid for approximately 40 metres then somersaulted four times coming to rest 146 metres from entering the ditch. Both pronounced dead at scene. 1
