About Amul Amul was formed in 1946. It is owned by 2.6 million milk producers in Gujarat. Dr. Varghese Kurien former chairman of GCMMF was the man behind the success of AMUL.
With 51% growth in two years, Amul achieves turnover of Rs With 51% growth in two years, Amul achieves turnover of Rs. 20733 crores during 2014-15. During the last five years, turnover of GCMMF grew from Rs.8005 crores to Rs. 20,733 crores. The dairy cooperative took giant leaps ahead in its journey of product innovation since as many as 26 new products from Amul’s portfolio, were launched last year. New chairman of GCMMF after DrVarghese Kurien is Shri Jethabhai Patel. As per him amul’s next 5 years goal is exceeding Rs. 50,000 crores. Shree jetha bhai patel informed that Amul plans to enhance its milk processing capacity from the current level of 237 lakh litres per day to 380 lakh litres per day in the next five years.

The moppet who put Amul on India's breakfast table 50 years after it was first launched, Amul's sale figures have jumped from 1000 tonnes a year in 1966 to over 25,000 tonnes a year in 1997. No other brand comes even close to it. All because a thumb-sized girl climbed on to the hoardings and put a spell on the masses. The first hoarding was put up in mumbai.
Glimpse of Amul dairy museum
The Dairy Museum is located within the Campus of Amul Dairy at Anand. This Museum is dedicated to the Dairy Industry and declared open by Mrs Molly Kurien on 26th November 2000 to mark the 80th birthday of Dr V. Kurien, The Father of White Revolution in India. The Museum has a Photo Gallery and Auditorium. The Photo Gallery gives glimpses of the genesis of Amul and its growth in a pictorial form to visitors and infuses confidence in the principle of co-operation and co- operative organizations. The Auditorium is used for screening of documentaries, interaction with guests, workshops, seminars and other programmes.
