Getting Started In 2007, DMH began a transformation of it’s service system. In 2008, a Director of Employment and Training was hired. In Oct. 2008, work with SELN began. Employment/Transition Coordinator’s are identified at all 11 Regional Offices by January of 09. DMH adopts an Employment First Policy in response to individuals expressing a desire to work and make a living wage. The Division mandates that Employment be a part of each person’s plan. Started at 16 – in the process of beginning at age 14.
Employment Coordinator Role Training and Technical Assistance: Employment policies Tools and resources Internal and external stakeholders (including local provider agencies) of employment related issues.
Employment Coordinator Role Local resource development for community employment best practices, transition services, benefits planning, etc. Provide technical assistance at personal planning meetings to promote employment as the first option for a meaningful day and Provide technical assistance regarding available employment related planning tools, services and supports.
Employment Coordinator Role Employment Training Improved agency collaboration with schools, VR and employment service providers. Provide TA to service coordinators at transition meetings at the schools. Monitor and Provide TA re: data collection Knowledge of Work Incentives Regional Activities (e.g. CTT and MPACT) CTT (community transition teams) Share activities specific to your area
