We Praise God For Mothers

“No man is poor who has had a godly mother.” --- Abraham Lincoln.

Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised..

Gen. 3:20 [20] And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. Mother of all living = she became the mother of all other human beings

Eve = means life It was from Eve that every living person came God honored Eve – the mother of all living

“She alone was given the designation ‘mother’ and so it has ever been since the creation of the world.” God gives us mothers We should praise God for the wonderful gift of motherhood because He made them to be…..

I. Kind

Kind = helpful; friendly; good – to do good to others in a pleasant and friendly way

Kindness is an attribute of God Luke 6:35 [35] “But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.”

Everyone should be kind 1 Cor. 13:4 “Charity (love) is kind”

Eph. 4:32 [32] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Mothers in particular have the spirit of kindness They are generous to their children They are gracious and pleasant They help their children learn and grow as they lead them toward maturity

II. Compassionate

Our God is a compassionate God Ps. 86:15 [15] But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Is 49:15 – God compares himself to a mother [15] Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

Christians are to be compassionate – 1 Pet. 3:8 [8] Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1 Jn. 3:17 [17] But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels (heart) of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Mothers in particular reflect the spirit of compassion – Ex. 2:5-6 [5] And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

[6] And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

III. Caring

[7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. God cares for us – 1 Pet. 5:7 [7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Jesus cared/cares for us Rom. 5:6-8 [6] For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. [7] For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. [8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

We are to care for one another as Christians and good neighbors

Lk. 10:33-35 [33] But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, [34] And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

[35] And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Mothers are naturally caring 1 Sam. 2:18-19 18] But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod. [19] Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

Gen. 1:26-27 [26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
