Notes: Goal vs. Dream Goal - An end that one strives to attain Dream - A fond hope; to have a dream or remote idea Now what do you see as the difference between a goal and a dream?

Goal Setting Power of One Project

Identify Concern Brainstorm all concerns in your life that you feel you could work on--- Include all short term and long term goals that appeal to you.

IDEAS!!! Maintain or lose weight with balanced meal plan (My Plate) Keep a food diary to track intake/exercise with a pedometer Reduce junk food, or cut out soda Complete homework daily Keep room clean for 2 weeks Learn to do all of your laundry for 2 weeks Improve your grades Use your planner daily to track school work Research colleges

Narrow down your goals  List 5 or 10 short term or long term goals Select 3 goals that you could complete in one month time List advantages and Disadvantages of all three

Set your goal Make your goal meaningful, attainable, and stated in specific terms. The goal should be in-depth and reflect your individual work. You will need to do 10 hours of work—or sustain your goal for at least 2 weeks time.

Goal Steps Write out your goal and determine if it is… Specific Measurable Attainable Results Oriented Time Bound

Form a Plan Make a plan that is detailed and includes who, what, when, where, and how. You should include any possible barriers and resources you will need to complete the project

Plan Steps Who? What? When? Where? Resources? Barriers? ADVISOR?????? Who will see you do the project?? Must be an adult--teacher, coach, parent, etc.

Act--DOCUMENTATION Include a time Log or Learning log with a minimum of 10 hours—or 2 weeks documented. Need to have proof of the project and an advisor’s signature. Such as: weight loss chart, food diary, typed exercise plan, pictures, copies of planner pages, progress reports, etc. How will you prove the progress of your goal?

Follow Up Write a neat, one page paper that analyzes the projects problems and successes. Give ideas for improvements and additional projects, etc.
