Presentation transcript:

Leader Talking Points- Depression Depression is very different from “the blues”. Symptoms include hopelessness, helplessness, loss of interest in activities, decreased energy, weight loss or gain, and sometimes suicidal thoughts generally lasting more than 2 weeks Depression is a treatable illness like any other, but most people don’t seek help because they are afraid of the stigma or being labelled. If you see someone who may be struggling, don’t be afraid to ask. Simply ask “Are you okay?” If you think you might have depression, see your doctor first. Lots of treatment options are available, including counseling and medications to help Exercise, being outdoors, practicing mindfulness and gratitude are other ways you can help improve your mood Help is available 24/7 thought our EAP For more resources, visit benefits.cat.com/EAP or call 866-228-0565
