Wilcox central high School 2017 Academic and Behavior Expectations

Wilcox central HIGH school Welcomes you! We hope everyone had a safe winter break! We are excited to have everyone here at WCHS this year! We are going to have a productive year filled with exciting challenges and opportunities for positive growth both academically and socially. Wilcox Central High School Faculty and Staff cares about you, your families, and your future.

WILCOX CENTRAL HIGH school classroom expectations No Talking during instruction (Yes, this means you!) Focus on the speaker Remain seated at all times Work collaboratively and cooperatively with your peers (ex. Group assignments) Raise your hand to ask questions Don’t be afraid to ask questions (We are here to assist) Keep your hands to yourself Horse playing is not permitted at any time Cellphones are not allowed during instruction time (Note: If your parent/guardian has an emergency, they need to contact the front office and the front office staff will notify you immediately.)

WILCOX CENTRAL HIGH school Daily Expectations Come prepared with a proper frame of mind and supplies to learn daily . All students must exhibit respectful behavior with faculty, staff, students, and community leaders. All students are required to wear the appropriate uniforms, Mondays through Fridays. All pants must be pulled to the waste, shirts must be tucked in, and no headgear of any kind will be permitted. Arrive to school on time and try not to miss any days. If you have to be absent, make sure to bring a written note from your parents the next day. Arrive to school no later then 7:35 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. (Note: Students are not allowed on the campus prior to 7:00 a.m. for any reason. Make sure to inform your parents of this critical expectations.) Make sure to follow ALL rules and procedures that have been established by WBOE and Wilcox Central High School.

Wilcox central high school Daily expectations – Continued The following actions are not permitted at Wilcox Central High School under any circumstances and could possibility lead to an immediate arrest:   Physical or verbal threat to staff Fighting Possession/Furnish of drugs or weapons found on the student Destruction of school property Sexual Content Bullying Display of Gang Writings/Paraphernalia/Signs Bus Behavior All students are required to be seated and keep their arms, hands, and head inside the school bus at all times. Safety First!!!!

Wilcox central high school Daily expectations – continued Class transitions must be conducted silently with all students rotating to the right side of the halls at all times. All class changes must be completed in five minutes or less. Students are to report to their lockers during assigned locker times. Students can not carry book bags or large purses during the school day. Candies, chips, cookies and etc. are not allowed during class time and hallway transitions. These items may be eaten during your scheduled lunch. Horseplay is not allowed in the classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, buses, traveling to and from school, and during afterschool activities All students are expected to behave appropriately in all Connection classes, and to report on time daily. We are on limited movement all year. (Note: Make sure to use the restroom and obtain instructional supplies during scheduled times.) Food is not allowed in the computer lab, and student can not view inappropriate sites.

Wilcox central high SCHOOL Daily expectations – continued Uniforms must be worn EVERYDAY. Shirt must be tucked in at all times. Pants must be pulled up on the waist with a belt. The colors for shirts are red, royal blue, and white. (Polo Style) The colors for the pants are navy blue and khaki. No jeans are allowed. Yes this means you too! No headgear of any kind, bandannas are not allowed at WCHS. Dress code infractions will result in disciplinary actions.

What can I do to increase my chances of Success this year? Maintain a positive attitude Maintain respect for yourself and others Listen and follow instructions Don’t be afraid to ask questions Read, Read, and Read Complete ALL assignments with correct information Attend all tutorial and enrichment sessions Get your parent/guardians to help you with homework nightly Get involve in after school activities

What’s new at WCHS this year? Jaguar/Social Emotional Learning Block – Opportunity to work on standard based deficiency areas/Opportunity to provide Advisor/Advisee – Opportunity for us to discus issues that impact our lives and solutions on making better choices. (Once a month minimum) Student Government Association (SGA)

In closing….. You are here to learn and to build positive relationships with faculty, staff, and peers. You must have high expectations for your behavior and education in order to prepare for the college or career of your choice. Leave community drama at home. What occurs in the community will not be allowed at WCHS. However, we are here to support you if you are experiencing societal challenges. Thanks for being the best students in the State of Alabama!!!! We are going to have a phenomenal 2017 school year, and now, it is time to get to work Finish Strong!!!!!!! ……… Go Jags!!!!
