Orphan Works Registry What? Why? A single EU registry of orphan works, in accordance with Directive 2012/28/EU Why? Enable cultural institutions to digitise and disseminate orphan works Promote digital libraries Allow a reappearing right holder to assert his copyright and thereby end the orphan work status

Orphan Works Database Orphan works database THE EU DIRECTIVE ON ORPHAN WORKS DIGITALISATION AND DISPLAY ON LINE PUBLICLY ACCESIBLE DATABASE The EU directive on orphan works, adopted at the end of 2012, sets out common rules for the digitisation and online display of orphan works which have been first published in the EU. Under the directive, information on orphan works has to be recorded in a single publicly accessible online database, the creation of which was entrusted to the OHIM.
