Buddhism Buddhism was founded in India in 500 B.C. by Siddhartha Gautama. One gains enlightenment-religious awakening-through meditation Believes the reasons for suffering & how to escape suffering. Believes in non-violence. Follows the Four Noble Truths & the Eightfold path. Follows the Tripitaka- sacred text.
