Tetanus (Lockjaw) Infectious disease characterized by continuous spasms of the voluntary muscles. Caused by toxin of the bacterium, Clostridium tetani, that can enter the body through a puncture wound. Will cause tetany (sustained strong contractions) which can result in muscle tears and fractures.
