The Cell The basic structural and functional unit of all life An organism may be only one cell big Cells may group together to form tissues  organs  organisms

Six Kingdoms of Life Animalia (Animals) Plantae (Plants) Fungi Protista (Protists) Eubacteria Archaebacteria

Vocab Review Organelles Autotroph Multicellular Eukaryotic Heterotroph Unicellular Nucleus Sessile Motile Prokaryotic

Let’s See Some Cells! Microscope lab Do not pick up the microscope! But when you do, hold by arm and bottom at the same time. Use the knobs to change magnification and to focus on slide Start at low magnification and then grow to high magnification (10x  20x  40x)

Pass out labeled microscope sheets Everyone says a part

Stations: Six Kingdoms There are 6 stations around the room, each for a kingdom of life 4 of the stations have slides so you can view the cells in that kingdom (7 min per station) You will fill out your lab sheet when you come to a microscope station At all stations, you must fill in your graphic organizer (answers at each station) Non- microscope station- save for last (5 min each)

You will present to class Poster Project Using info sheet & pictures, create a poster that includes all important info about your assigned kingdom Will post around room (Big & BOLD lettering!) You will present to class Pass out info sheets
