An Aviation Maintenance Technician is a person who is qualified to carry out aircraft maintenance services. This individual may hold an A&P (Airframe/Powerplant) license. This would enable them to conduct their duties.

What are the certifications that you can earn when being an aviation maintenance technician?

Airframe and/or PowerPlant (A&P) license Airframe and/or PowerPlant (A&P) license. By holding this license this will enable you to perform all aspects relation to maintenance on an aircraft without having to be under the supervision of anyone. An Inspection Authorization license. This license is given to licensed A&P mechanic with the authorizations to do inspections. With holding this license this license, this enables the person to conduct maintenance and alterations that A&P mechanics can’t perform.

What are the duties of an aviation maintenance technician?

An aircraft mechanic has to perform several duties which includes the installation and removing of aircraft components, the reparation process and executing routine inspections. Not to mention, an aircraft mechanic has to manage their times because they have to work under deadlines to ensure that an aircraft is in a good condition to leave the ground to take flight.

Requirements of becoming an Aviation maintenance mechanic.

You must be at least 18 years old; You must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. You must get 18 months of practical experience with either power plants or airframes, or 30 months of practical experience working on both at the same time You must pass three types of tests; a written examination an oral test a practical test
