Journal Look up Op Art in Art History book. What time in history did this art movement begin? What are the Characteristics of Op Art? Who were the Artists mentioned. You will need a pencil and a ruler today.

The Op Art, or Optical Art movement-1960’s represented by works that seem to move and vibrate through the use of optical effects. Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely- use colors and patterns in their works to create an effect that disorientates the viewer. Op Art artists used ideas from perceptive psychology and coupled them with maximum precision to achieve the results of illusion and distortion. Op Art is a type of abstract closely related to the Kinetic and Constructivist art movements.
