Reading The Gospel of Mark 1 - The Proclamation of John the Baptist – the start of Jesus public ministry: “I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” 2 - “Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.” 3 - And a voice came from Heaven: “You are my beloved Son, the Beloved, with you I am well pleased.” 4 - Jesus was then tempted by Satan for fourty days 5 - Jesus follows the river Jordan downstream to the Sea of Galilee where he recruits his first disciples: Simon and his brother Andrew: “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” 6 - Capernaum’s synagogue: Jesus taught as one having authority and not as the Jewish scribes 7 - Jesus healed a man with an unclean spirit: “Be silent, and come out of him!”
