Imam Mohammad Taqi (a.s) Titles: At-Taqi, Al-Jawad. Kuniyya: Abu Ja'fer. Birth: 10th Rajab 195 a.h. Madina. Mother: Sabika (also known as Khaizarun). Father: Imam Ali Ridha (a.s.) Death: 29th Dhulqa'da 220 a.h. poisoned by Mo'tasam (L.A) Baghdad. Buried: Kadhmain.

Imam Mohammad Taqi (a.s) used to wear an amulet which is called Hirze Jawad after the night attack on him by Mamun Rashid (L.A) the next day he was shocked to see Imam alive, on that he asked him what saved him from his attack. Imam told him it was Hirze Jawad from his grand mother Bibi Fatima Zahra (a.s.) and kept the wearer safe from all calamities except the angel of death.

Mamun asked the young Imam, "Why did you not run away?" Once when the young Imam was on his way to Baghdad he came across Mamun's party returning from a hunting trip. All the other children on the street ran but the Imam did not. Mamun asked the young Imam, "Why did you not run away?" Imam said the road was wide enough for all of them and neither had he committed a sin. Mamun then asked him his identity. After finding out, he asked Imam what he (Mamun) had in his hands. Imam replied "Allah has created tiny fish in the rivers. And the pressure of air on water makes it rise up together with the small fishes. These fish are hunted by the Hawks of the kings and the descendants of the Prophets are asked to reveal the secrets".

Al-Imam al-Jawad, peace be Upon him, said: The trust in Allah is the price of every thing that is precious and the ladder to every goal which is high and sublime.

One who follows his desires, concedes to the wishes of his enemy. Al-Imam al-Jawad, peace be Upon him, said: One who follows his desires, concedes to the wishes of his enemy.

Al-Imam al-Jawad, peace be Upon him, said: Do not be an apparent friend of Allah in open and a secret enemy of His in private.

Al-Imam al-Jawad, peace be Upon him, said: Take patience as your pillow , hug poverty , discard lusts , oppose your self-desire and know that you are seen by God , so look how you are (Tohaf Al_Okool , P.478)  

Al-Imam al-Jawad, peace be Upon him, said: Our up riser is the Mahdi whom should be waited for in his absence , and obeyed in his appearance . He is the third of my sons. (Mesnad Al_Imam Al_Javad , P.131)
