Presentation transcript:

Welcome to Southern Middle You are on the Rockets Team!

Expectations: Follow the social contract developed by you, your classmates and your teachers. DO ALL ASSIGNED work (in class and at home!) Make up work when you are absent and turn it in.

Expectations: You are required to have a ½ inch binder to hold homework and your agenda. This folder goes with you to every class. Your Agenda is for the following tasks: 1) write down all assignments 2) take the Agenda home NIGHTLY 3) have a parent/guardian to sign it weekly You are required to have a book to read from the library or home in every class. It is ok to read on a NOOK but only with parent permission to bring the expensive item to school.

What are your incentives? Students can earn ROAR stamps for positive behavior and excellent work habits. The ROAR stamps will be recorded in the agenda and spent later for rewards and prizes.

Each nine weeks the sixth grade will have a celebration Each nine weeks the sixth grade will have a celebration. Students will enjoy this celebration if enough ROAR points have been earned.

Make the Right Decision 10 ROAR points will be earned each day you have no infractions decide now to work hard every day in every class and make good choices as you interact with others to be eligible to attend this event.

Infraction log is at the back of the student agenda The ZERO infraction is for not having assignments or materials needed for class….it only results in not earning needed total pts for the nine week incentive….will not turn into office referral Categories 1 through 5 will lead to a parent contact after 3 in the same group. Categories 1 through 3 will lead to after-school detention after 5 in the same group. Categories 4 and 5 will lead to an office referral after 5 in the same group.

Rockets Team Schedule   DAILY SCHEDULE 7:50am to 8:36am cubby break/Homeroom/Mastery time **cubby break…get all needed materials for Block one and both electives** 8:38am to 9:18am FOCUS….enrichment or remediation groups….will not start until after the first three weeks of school…….first three weeks students will remain in block one and learn about our PBIS plan and work through some guidance lessons 9:20am to 10:20am BLOCK ONE 10:22am to 11:03am……Elective One 11:05am to 11:46am…….Elective Two **cubby break……get lunch $$/lunch boxes…..all needed materials for block 2, 3, and 4 11:50am to 1:13pm BLOCK TWO and lunch--12:07 to 12:27 at table B 1:14pm to 2:15pm BLOCK THREE 2:16pm to 3:08pm BLOCK FOUR **cubby break…..pack up to go home** Restroom Breaks – In Focus and before or after Lunch and other times with signed agenda for emergencies

When will I know my electives? the 1st day of school What if I am assigned an elective I don’t like? Smile—you rotate through electives with the exception of band and physical education which are year-long courses.

We are glad to be your teachers! We will give 110% each day and ask you to do the same! Mrs. Barrett will teach you Language Arts. Ms. Johnson will teach you Math. Mrs. Gurley will teach you Science. Mrs. Rumley will teach you Social Studies.

There is one confusing thing about the ROCKETS TEAM TEACHERS. Mrs. Rumley and Ms. Johnson have DAILY car duty and get some morning help for this extra work. All of our students will have another teacher in our school as their homeroom teacher. Ms. Cooley for Mrs. Rumley and Mr. Arrington for Ms. Johnson. These teachers will welcome students each morning and will have all homeroom duties with them.

Deadline for School Supplies PLEASE HAVE ALL NEEDED SCHOOL SUPPLIES IN CLASS on Tuesday, Sept. 5th
