Presentation transcript:

In your opinion, what would an ideal society look like? Would there be a strong government with strict laws? Would citizens have special rights and freedoms? What would the education system look like?

Ideology A set of ideas that guides the decisions of a group of people 5 Main political ideologies that we will examine: Communism Socialism Liberalism Conservatism Fascism

Where do the 5 political ideologies fit on the political spectrum? Left Centre Right

The Political Spectrum Liberalism Communism Fascism Socialism Conservatism Anarchism

And now… Political Ideologies as explained with cows.

Political ideologies made easy...”You have two cows...”

Communism: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and gives you part of the milk.

Socialism: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbour.

LIBERALISM: You have two cows. You sell both to the rich. The government then taxes the rich, one cow, and gives it to the poor.

CONSERVATIVISM: You have two cows. You lock them up, and charge people to look at them.

Fascism: You have two cows. The government takes both cows and sells you the milk.

Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one of them and buy a bull.

Bureaucracy: You have two cows. The government takes both of them, shoots one, milks the other, then pours the milk down the drain. You must then fill out forms to account for the missing cow.

Democracy: Everyone has two cows. Then a vote is taken and whatever the majority decides to do, you do.

I am not a cow. I am a sheep... Moo-baaah!! Totalitarianism: You have two cows. The government takes them and denies they ever existed. Milk is banned.

ANARCHISM: You have two cows. The cows decide you have no right to do anything with their milk and leave to form their own society.
