Presentation transcript:

What’s happening in the class: August 7th – 11th Announcements: -Since we grade students by mastery of standard, many times I will send home work with a check on it. This means that I looked at it and everything is good. I will circle anything that needs to be looked at further. I will be picking out our first Student of the Week this Friday, for the week of 8/14-8/18 and sending home all of the paper work on it with that student. -Although it is summer weather outside, our new air units are keeping it cool inside. Therefore, you may want to send your child with a sweater or light jacket incase they get chilly. - What’s happening in the class: ELA: This week we will be beginning our first foundational skills unit. It focuses on how to decode and write short vowel, one-syllable words. We will also be starting our first Read Aloud Domain that includes many of Aesop’s fables. Students will be learning what makes a story a fable and what moral each one teaches. Math: In math we will be starting our first Unit in Eureka, which will focus on number bonds. Students will learn how to find smaller numbers inside of a given number and recognize those as parts of a whole. They will be creating number bonds up to 10. Spelling Words None Homework: ELA- decodable readers, review vocabulary words, read with your child 20 minutes  Math- workbook practice/homework pages * There may not be homework every night in my class so don’t worry if your child says they didn’t have any.
