Allegory Animal Farm

Allegory An allegory is a narrative that can be read on more than one level. In an allegory, the objects, people, and actions are representative of meanings outside of the narrative. An allegory is essentially a group of symbols working together to create meaning. A fable is a short story, often one with animals as characters, that illustrates a moral.

“The Tortoise and the Hare” Diligence and Persistence Laziness and Distractibility “Slow and steady wins the race.” A fable, by Aesop A lazy and distractible hare, despite being faster than the diligent and persistent tortoise, loses a race.

C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe The White Witch corrupts Edmund by giving him Turkish Delight. The White Witch Satan Evil Edmund Eve Humans Turkish Delight The Apple Temptation
