Workshop Feedback MRL WG 2018 Activities Team Recommendations (Strategic) Assign an MRL Secretariat – we nominate Jordan Masters Manufacturing & Quality education of the workforce – suggest an Ad Hoc Committee to interact with PQM Career Field Survey team Do we need a ‘marketing brochure’ or other ‘social media’ activity that captures our successes? Investigate the use of the MRL Process in DoD in relation to congressional language (Rob Gold, NDAA 2017 Section 906 & 907) How do we handle industrial security (cyber) considerations?

Workshop Feedback MRL WG 2018 Activities Team Recommendations (Body of Knowledge) Objective Evidence/Artifact examples to satisfy MRL Criteria need to be identified and put into the MRL Users Guide. More industry terminology in Users Guide “Predictive indicator” in MRL 7 & 8 (D.3) Criteria does not have explanations nor examples in the MRL Users Guide. The “definition” (A set of internal process metrics that can provide quality and delivery forecasts, are actionable, and are indicative of the overall “health” of the organization’s and suppliers’ performance.) provides no insight. We need examples. “Availability” in MRL 8 & 9 (D.2) Criteria does not explicitly cover obsolescence/DMSMS while obsolescence/DMSMS is explicitly covered in MRL 6 & 7 Criteria. Obsolescence/DMSMS may be more important in MRL 8 & 9 than MRL 6 & 7. How do we handle and expand language for ‘counterfeit parts’?

Feedback on Proposed Matrix Change MRL 1-3 Criteria additions/changes Team Assessment of proposed additional criteria Is this change value added: Yes However, wording changes needed! We trust you to “do the right thing”!!! MRL 2 B.1 Potential characteristics of the concept (materials, processes, capabilities, limitations, etc.) that impact producibility identified. MRL 3 G.1 “developmental” workforce Use of “Identified” needs to be consistent MRL 3 E.1 Identification of process approaches. Remove “material and/or” to be consistent with the rest of the thread. MRL 2 B.1 Identify potential elements of the concept MRL 3 B.1 ….... MRL 3 D.4 Remove “List of” Reverse second and first sentence Our suggested changes are on a spreadsheet – to be provided by Mark Gordon.

Feedback on Proposed Matrix Change MRL 4 Criteria changes Team Assessment of proposed additional criteria Is this change value added: Yes. However, changes below must be incorporated! A.2 Advanced manufacturing technology development…. B.2 ...function constraints identified and (remove) manufacturing… Put second statement in Users Guide C.1 Change first statement to: Manufacturing, material and special requirement cost drivers identified and included in cost models. D.4 Remove “List of” D.4 Special handling items, risks and issues identified. Reverse second and first sentence E.1 No to “Modeling and simulations of manufacturing concepts are finalized.” Keep original. H.2 Capability, and availability… We appreciated the change from SEP and AS to technology development and systems engineering activities. Do this to all. Should we do to all of the matrix.? I.1 and I.2 I.2 Developmental materials and components list developed identified based on estimates of availability, lead time, handling, storage, etc. Our suggested changes are on a spreadsheet – to be provided by Mark Gordon.

Feedback on Proposed AS6500/MRL Integration to MRL Deskbook Team Assessment of proposed Deskbook change Is this change value added: Yes! Suggested changes: Add DI-MGMT-81889 (DID) to paragraph 6.7.2

Workshop Feedback Environmental, Safety, and Health Use ESH, (a.k.a., EHS) Incorporation: A separate thread Sub-threads - 9 New wording in existing criteria (H.2 & D.4) - 1 Where for sub-threads? Keep D.4, Rename to “ESH & Special Handling” H.3 “ESH Management” For H.3 we need to have SMEs in that field help us address artifacts Translate “Boeing Workplace Safety” questions to put into Users Guide

Overall Feedback on Workshop Team Assessment of workshop (comments/suggestions) Valuable Networking within/outside DoD Discussions between industry/DoD Try to get more variety with industry participation Remember - this process is for all US industry Editing of ideas at workshop is valuable Synopsis of attendees provided before Workshop
