Beginning of Class Procedures: Homeroom 08/11/2015 Beginning of Class Procedures: Turn in any signed paperwork to me. The faster you submit your signed paperwork, the faster you’ll receive a locker. Stop bringing backpacks. You can bring a backpack AFTER you get a locker. Leave any backpacks here and get them BEFORE connections. Go get your breakfast NOW. Do not wait. Breakfast is over at 9:15. If you are not eating, read quietly. There will be a fire drill at 9:25. Be prepared. HOMEROOM = SILENCE

Language Arts – Warm Up 08/11/15 Warm Up: On the SAME page as your last journal entry, respond to the following prompt: What does it mean to tell the truth? How do we know when someone is telling the truth? Is it always easy to determine when someone is telling the truth? Why or why not? *Tear this page out of your journal when finished. Don’t forget to turn in any parent homework.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/11/15 Essential Question: How can I be successful in 6th grade? Standard: ELACC6W4 - Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/11/15 InterActive Notebooks Table of Contents: Glue in the table of contents pages to the back cover and to the front and back sides of the very first page in your notebook. Read the instructions page, review the image of the layout of your notebook and read “Implementation”. Once you have followed these steps, then you may work on your cover.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/11/15 Unit 1 Pre-Test (Continued) You MUST use a pencil. Write your answers on the Scantron ONLY. Pre-tests do not count against you, BUT they matter because: They tell us what you already know; They tell us if we can move on to other topics; They allow us more time to move on to more fun projects! When you finish, you may work on your Interactive Notebooks.

Language Arts – Closing Session 08/11/15 Interactive Notebook Covers Design your Interactive Notebook with images, words, phrases, drawings, etc. Remember, these images represent YOU, so make sure that they are accurate representations of your character.  Your homework packet is due THURSDAY.

E.L.T. 08/11/15 Opening Session Work Session Closing Session Finish your Text Features pre-test. Work Session Text Features Scavenger Hunt (with your Interactive Reader & Writer workbook) Closing Session 3-2-1 Article/Text Features Identification
