Hemic/Lymphatic System By: Whitney Robinson

Function The Hemic/Lymphatic System function is to filter the blood from infections and toxins that may harm you. It creates antibodies that fight diseases It is your body’s defense system.

The Way It Works Your blood circulates through your veins, meanwhile being filtered at certain locations, (lymph nodes) before being passed along through the rest of your body.

Diseases/Treatment Some diseases of this system include aplastic anemia and iron-deficiency anemia. Aplastic Anemia is when your body is not making enough blood cells to replace the ones being lost. Treatment for this is a blood transfusion or bone marrow transplant. Iron-deficiency anemia deals with a lack of iron being consumed and stored in your body. This disease can be treated with Iron supplements. Some other forms are lymphomas (infections involving lymph nodes) myelomas (cancerous) Another key element to helping your lymphatic system is eating healthy.
