Chemical Control Insecticides applications

Objectives 1/ Define Insecticides Applications. 2/ Explain types of Insecticides Applications.

A space spray – technically: is a liquid insecticide dispersed into the air in the form of hundreds of millions of tiny droplets less than 50 μm in diameter. Space sprays are applied mainly as: 1- thermal fogs or 2- cold fogs.

Thermal and cold foggers are different type of devices that are used for the same purpose, to get rid and control insects.

Aerosols and fog consist: of less than droplets Mist droplets volume median diameter: 50 μm 50 - 100 μm

Aerosols and fogs using to kill adult mosquitoes resting in vegetation or other areas that cannot be reach by conventional methods.

Aerosol application are often combined with other control measure such as: 1- larviciding (larval control) 2- spraying of houses with residual insecticides.

Thermal fogs As thermal foggers use heat to vaporize the fogging solution, it forms a cloud of thick fog in white to grey color. use petrol.

Thermal fogs

Cold Fogs cold foggers. The fogger is more efficient and will consume less liquid in fogging, as the fogging solution gets atomized with an air pressure into very small particles. Use water.

cold fogs machine

Ultra- low- volume ULV application: More concentrated formulation used to cover larger areas. Composed of droplets with a volume median diameter of about (180 – 200 μm). For larviciding larger droplets (180 – 250) are required.

ULV application

Question Q1 in space spray application the droplets size is: a. Less than 50 um. b. 50 – 100 um. c. 100 – 150 um. d. 150 – 200 um. e. All of the above.
