Muscle & Joint Lab Practical (50 pts) You may take this by yourself or with ONE partner. Get a sheet of notebook paper & put your name(s) on it and # 1-25. Answer each question – you may use all study resources (except for asking another group) if you need to but try it without first! You may ask me questions too.

1. What muscle action is happening here? 2. What is the agonist muscle?

3. What action is shown here? 4. What is the agonist muscle?

5. What type of joint is this? 3 4

6. What structural type of joint is this?

7. Is this an anterior or posterior view? Label the muscles indicated 9 8

Important to know: When looking at scans of transverse sections: You are always looking from the feet UP towards the head. You need to determine anterior & posterior of the patient. You need to determine right & left of the patient. Lungs so this is a thoracic section Patient is on their back with their head away from you so this side is anterior. Spinous process so this is posterior Therefore this must be the left humerus

10. Using the clues provided, determine what muscle the white arrow points to. Heart Lungs

11. What muscle is the black arrow pointing to. 12 11. What muscle is the black arrow pointing to? 12. Is this a muscle of facial expression or a muscle of mastication?

13. What muscle is the white arrow pointing to. 14 13. What muscle is the white arrow pointing to? 14. What specific action is this muscle the agonist for?

15. Determine what muscle the white arrow is pointing to. Radius & Ulna

16. What 3 muscle layers (from superficial to deep) is the yellow bracket enclosing?

17. What muscle group is the white arrow pointing to. 18 17. What muscle group is the white arrow pointing to? 18. What muscle group is the yellow arrow pointing to?

19. What specific structure is the arrow pointing to?

20. What bone is the white arrow pointing to. 21 20. What bone is the white arrow pointing to? 21. Is it part of the axial or appendicular skeleton? Liver

22. What body region is the arrow pointing to?

23. What muscle group makes up the front of your armpit as indicated by the yellow arrow?

24. What muscle group makes up the back of your armpit as indicated by the yellow arrow?

25. Injections are given in the area of the gluteus medius (removed but indicated by the area of the yellow box) so as the avoid damaging the _____________ nerve indicated by the white arrow.

When you are finished: Take it to your teacher to grade it. Please do NOT discuss your answers with other groups!!
