Solutions Floating farms must be proven to withstand forces under extreme conditions at their specific site. All farms in Norway must conform to a minimum standard. Norwegian standard 9415 (Nytek) – every farm must have a certificate at each site . Standard is developed by the authorities AND the fish farmers. Can neither cope with sabotage, collisions with ships nor with tsunamis. The German answer would be - Verboten ! By 2012 all equipment must be certified by producers for the site where they are moored. In the meantime old farms get a certificate called dugelighetsbevis which certifies that equipment is appropiate

The site – step I Forces induced by wind tides bathymetry and topography give site specific currents and waves These work on the construction. Measure & calculate site specific forces! currents (28 days pluss risk margins) waves are modelled from winddata & topogr. = input data for further computations = classification of site.

Audit documentation – step III Collecting of specifications, descriptions & manuals for equipment, procedures, maintainance. Review the documents complete ? correct ? specs. comply to forces?

Inspection and deviations – step IV Visiting the farm and inspect equipment is it what it claims in the papers? is it in good shape? is assemblage correct? Report deviations. Follow up correcting of deviations. Issue certificate.

Achievments improved the technical standards and quality of design and equipment minimum standard in ALL farms starts a process in the mind of more people reducing escapees
