FUEL EFFICIENCY OF 2005 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID PRESENTED BY NNODU UGOCHUKWU

CONTENT PROBLEM FUEL INEFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT DESIGN IMPACT CONCLUSION REFERENCE

PROBLEM Limited supply of gasoline High demand of gasoline High consumption rate Waste of gas energy to the atmosphere High cost of gasoline Due to the limited supply of gasoline and high consumption of gasoline by gasoline cars contributes poorly to fuel edonomy.

FUEL INEFFICIENCY Idle loss Engine loss Gasoline input output The engine of gasoline cars consumes a lot of energy in order to produce mechanical energy. Gasoline cars waste gas energy when they come to a stop, like in a traffic Idle loss Engine loss output Gasoline input Transmission loss Braking loss Gas energy is lost during transmission due to transmission inefficiency. Gas energy are lost when brake is applied and a lot of energy is required to pick up from a stop.

IMPROVEMENT 2005 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID FUEL EFFICIENCY Combination of gasoline engine and electric motor to improve fuel efficiency. Capable of starting up under electric power. Switches over to electric power when its halted or stopped like in a traffic. Runs on electric power within the range of 25 – 28mph Gets a good mileage in city drive and highway.

DESIGN Designed with a four cylinder dual engine Designed with three phase synchronous motor Four cylinder dual engine connected in parallel with the three phase synchronous motor.

IMPACT Contributed positively to fuel economy. Promoted the image of hybrid technology. Improved the driving efficiency of consumers.

CONCLUSION The design concept was a breakthrough to the improvement of fuel efficiency which in turn promote fuel economy.
