Classroom Organization &Physical Environment By- Susie Ayala TSP December 2010

Efficient Classrooms Physical Lay Out A well run classroom begins with the classrooms physical layout: This includes the arranging of desks and working space, functional bulletin boards, materials and supplies storage & other interesting items to enhance the environment. It also includes getting rid of any useless and non essential furnishings. The suggestions that follow for efficient room designs are appropriate for all grade levels and subject areas.

Classroom Management Plan The goal of classroom management can be defined as the procedures used to ensure the best possible environment for the transfer of information to take place. 5 keys to room design: Action Zone, Teacher Proximity, Arranging Students Desks, Traffic Patterns, Identifying Activity Boundaries http://www.schoolmarm.org/main/index.php?page=cmp#Room

Outline Your Classroom Floor Plan The classroom environment is very important. All the elements of the organization and physical layout of the classroom influence the way your students will interact with their environment. The classroom environment also supports the teachers leaning goals for the students. It impacts how the students will learn. http://classroom.4teachers.org/

Classroom Organization & Physical Environment The classroom environment must be organized in a way that it is conducive to learning. It is important for the teacher and students to feel safe and comfortable in their environment. The structure of the design should be flexible enough to be able to change as needed for different teaching and learning styles. http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/article.jsp?id=4134 http://www.learnnc.org/lp/pages/734
