October Instore Excellence Submission November 11, 2017

The Objectives: The objective of this display was to create a new type of merchandiser for the wireless Bluetooth speaker market in Best Buy Canada Stores. This segment of the marketplace has exploded as of late, with CPGs struggling to garner floor/ shelf space, and in particular, to differentiate their products from those of their competitors Logitech wanted to create a permanent, very contemporary looking display that would house a variety of Ultimate Ears (UE) speakers for the consumer to examine and then purchase. This larger than life display needed to last upwards of a year, while also maximizing the amount of product merchandised, given the floor space allotted.

Initial Ideations

Concept 1 MDF; Particle Board, High pressure Laminate, Melamine, solid body construction using Laminated Solid Fiber material in the curved corners

MDF Structure with Adjustable Wire Shelves Concept 2 MDF Structure with Adjustable Wire Shelves

Sheet Metal Construction with Tubular Leg Supports Concept 3 Sheet Metal Construction with Tubular Leg Supports

Mixed Materials Construction- sheet metal, vacuum forming, styrene Concept 4 Mixed Materials Construction- sheet metal, vacuum forming, styrene

Concept 5 Mixed Materials Construction- sheet metal, vacuum forming, styrene, hooks, MDF panels, high pressure laminated base.

The Winning Design

Actual Production Sample Approved Final Rendering

The Solution: Constructed from a combination of MDF, particle board and laminated solid fiber (curved components) with high pressure laminate (formica/wilsonart) and melamine, this display is both bold and durable. The shape was of particular importance to this design and GNI utilized its resources in solid laminated fiber board for the solution. The internal shelves are built-in and accessible from both sides of the 2 side shop design. The side graphics were produced via UV stable digital inks on styrene and are mounted to the side panel via removable screws to permit update-ability. Maximizing the permissible height at BBY Canada stores this unit stands larger than life and creates a prominent presentation that can not be missed by shoppers when it is set in the intended race track aisle at BBY.

The Insights: This program was of particular importance to GNI as we had previously been looked at as only the “temporary” display company to utilize, with Rapid Display garnering most all of the mixed material “permanent” type work. Logitech wanted to ”test the waters” with GNI to see if we could prove ourselves from a look & feel standpoint, staying on budget standpoint, as well as meeting their delivery needs standpoint. GNI exceeded expectations on every level! Logitech and Best Buy Canada both were very impressed with this display, although there is no sales data at this time because it has only been in store for a few weeks. One thing is for certain though, this display has already been a hit with Best Buy, as this retail giant is already discussing a possible US version as well in 2017. One could say, that based on the success of this program, that this mere $100k order could be the gateway to over $1M in potential sales in the future with Logitech
