Drawing the face All people share the some basic measurements in the face. The face is one of the hardest thing to draw correctly because our brains recognise the shapes. Many artist throughout history have produced self portraits and this is what we shall start with.

Fauvism and the work of Henry Matisse

Skin Tones and the work of Lucien Freud

Fine liner portraits

Four techniques

Objectives Produce a self portrait using a mirror that clearly shows facial proportions. Produce a fauvist style portrait. Produce a series of skin tones. Apply what you have learnt to a gridded portrait.

Gold Silver Bronze

Homework Portrait project homework. We are going to add colour to our portraits in two styles. One of the Styles is called Fauvism. What is fauvism, how would you characterise it as an art style. Who stared it and when. What do you like about it, what don´t you like about it. You will need to find examples of Fauvist Portraits so that you can look at the colours for when you produce yours. You will need to print this out and bring it for the next lesson. . Produce a Fauvist portrait from a photo that you have taken. A4
