The New Nation Project

Project Pretend it is the year 1776 and you are delegates from the original 13 colonies, now called states, who are meeting to create a government for a new country. Complete the following: -select a name for the new country -create a flag for the new country -suggest a motto for the new country, pledge, song Select a national bird , select a national animal, Select a national tree , select a national flower The Pledge should be 5 lines in length The National Song should be 5 lines in length

Project Part A You will be given chart paper Put name, class date on chart Construct a draft of your map Draw the other symbols/emblems on the same sheet . Design your motto. Design a pledge Create a national anthem Work should be proof read by teacher then you will be given final yellow chart paper You will be given chart paper Put name, class date on chart Construct a draft of your map Draw the other symbols/emblems on the same sheet .

Project Part B- Individual work Your task today is to create a constitution for your new nation. The Constitution should have a title. The Constitution should have a Preamble with about 25 words. The Constitution should include Articles 1-7 from textbook (pages 188-205) in your own words. Please do not copy word for word from the book. All Articles should be labeled and defined Articles 1-4 should include Section1 only Article VII should have the name of your president as well as other delegates who ratified this constitution

Project Part B- Individual work The Constitution should include Amendments 1-10 which are known as the Bill of Rights. Please paraphrase the Amendments do not copy word for word.(204-205) When you are finished raise your hand. Your work will be proof read and you will be given a chart paper to complete the final draft. You can add decorations on the final draft paper. You will then staple Part A and Part B as the final project Work quietly- do not lose points
