Piqua Basketball's New Direction

Integrity Performance Achievement Quality Unselfish Program Goals Athletes will work hard to better the team by increasing their individual skills Integrity The Program will give the utmost respect to the student body, administration, community and league. Quality There will be a quality product produced from the our hard work and dedication. Unselfish The Program will be unselfish off the court and on. We will understand our actions reflect our team. Achievement Athletes in the program will achieve growth both as a person and as an athlete.

Parent Communication Playing time/ Position Parents should communicate with coaches at appropriate times. Before and after games are stressful times for parent, player, and coach. At NO time should a parent approach a coach with concerns before or after games. Chain of Command Assistant Coach/ JV Coach/ Freshmen Coach (whichever applies) Head Coach Athletic Director Building Principal Appropriate Concerns Treatment of Child Ways to help your child improve Concerns about academics Concerns about your child’s behavior Non-Appropriate Concerns Playing time/ Position Play Calling Anything dealing with other players playing time If the parent is not satisfied with a meeting they can then contact the Athletic Director for further discussion.

Long Story Short For the next 3 months, life will be emotional. Please don’t take offense but I won’t talk about X’s and O’s, philosophies, gear, spirit packs, etc.

Practice Expectations Focus Acknowledge we will practice with purpose Recognize that is organized for a reason Assess Understand your weakness and work to limit them Understand your strengths work to make them stronger Compete Competitive Attitude will be established Be able to succeed during adversity Train Train your body and mind Get physical reps Get mental reps

Practice Gear Navy Shorts; practice jersey (tucked in) White socks; Undershirts need to be Navy or white White socks; No ear rings, no bracelets Always be ready 5 min early. You are late if you walk in the building at the practice start time.

The following behaviors will have consequences at the discretion of the coach and AD. A violation of any school rule. A violation of any school district rule. A violation of any athletic department rule. Disrespect towards a coach. Any disrespect towards any coach will not be tolerated. Failure to serve consequences for committing an offense. Technical foul Throwing a punch = removal from the team.

Game Day Dress Rules: I expect your player to dress as the team dresses on game days. Example – If we wear ties to school, your son needs to have a tie on. Example – If we are going to wear the travel suits to the games, Travel suit needs to be worn.

9th/JV/V Tripleheader Procedure During the 9th grade game JV will sit behind bench. Any 9th grader who is playing up will sit on the bench for the freshmen game. During the JV game the Varsity will sit the entire game. By the start of the JV game 9th graders are to be behind the bench sitting together. Any sophomore playing up will sit on the JV bench during the JV game. During Varsity –All 9th and JV are required to stay for Varsity game unless authorized by their head coach. Players can get up and walk around during halftimes or in between games.

Shoot-A-Thon Monetary donations for Piqua Boys Basketball Program. What the $ is used for. Practice Jerseys Basketballs Equipment Summer shoot outs/Trips We spent almost $700 last year for summer stuff. Players goals and what they get. 0-$179 = no discount; not eligible for shoot-a-thon prizes $180 - $199 = Free t-shirt $201 - $249 = ½ price shoes; Free T-shirt $250 - $299 = free Team shoes; Free T-Shirt $300 - $399 = free Team shoes; Free T-Shirt; Free Shooting Shirt

Spirit Packs If you have already purchased the shooting shirt then I will take $24 or $10 off of the goals. If you have not ordered the shooting shirt then I will place a big order at once and will let you know accordingly how much you owe depending on how much money they raise for the shoot-a-thon.

Parent Support Parent involvement is encouraged. We want to have as much parent involvement as possible. The basketball parents have given a lot to the team. New Locker Room New Travel Suits You want the best than you have to get involved.
