Accelerated Reader Begins! School Info. Front Office 210.633.9006 www.base.brooksacademy.org 3803 Lyster Rd. 78235 1st quarter Edition September 2017 #herewegrow #fromkinder2college Families, Thank you for choosing BROOKS! We are honored to serve as the School Leaders for the 2017-2018 school year! We have experienced a tremendous amount of growth this school year and with it much change and new additions. BASE was awarded a Math and Science Distinction from TEA last month. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated teachers and staff. Together with our students, they made that happen. Here at BASE we pride ourselves in being able to take your child from Kinder to College. We have limited seating available in all grade levels and are currently hosting tours. If you know anyone who is looking for a STEM accredited school and a rigorous curriculum, send them our way! We appreciate your patience and feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve. We are so excited to unveil the new courtyard project in October, stay tuned for an official announcement and photos. In service, Mr. Delarosa Upper School Leader Sam.Delarosa@brooksacademy.org Mrs. Salas Lower School Leader Bonnie.salas@brooksacademy.org GET INVOLVED! Brooks Academy would like to introduce you to our new Activities Clerk, Mrs. Valadez. She is currently seeking parents who are interested in volunteering. Any adult who wishes to be on campus as a volunteer must have a background check on file and participate in a mini training session that she will host a few times a year. Background check forms can be found on our website or at the front desk  with one of our Receptionists. If you are interested in this or just staying current will all things parent involvement,  please email her at araceli.valadez@brooksacademy.org Accelerated Reader Begins! Students in grades Kindergarten - 8th grade have received log in information for Accelerated Reader. Accelerated Reader is an online program that helps teachers monitor and manage children's independent reading practice. Your child will pick a book at his or her own reading level. Once complete they will then take a short quiz online. The more quizzes they successfully complete, the more points they earn. We will have an incentive board up showing our top point earners and give awards to classes with the most participation. Ask your child's teacher for login information if you have not already received it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM BASE events! Shiner cross country meet. Brooks runners stop for a quick photo. We love our Grandparents! IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM Families- please make sure that you have filled out a lunch application for every child registered, whether you qualify for free or reduced or not. Additionally, we are at a point in the year where lunch balances need to be kept below $10.00. Any lunch balance that exceeds such amount will result in loss of participation in sports, extracurricular activities, and field trips. Additionally, students who have an active balance exceeding $10.00 will be served an alternate lunch. If you have any questions please contact our Food Service Coordinator, Ms. Larralde at Valerie.larralde@brooksacademy.org Varsity football players hear an encouraging word from our coaches. Elementary Safety Patrols guided by our sponsors, Mr. Riley and Ms. E Pick up Procedures Please adhere to all traffic regulations and signs during drop off and pick up. Remember that per the city of San Antonio, school zones are a "NO CELL PHONE ZONE". Elementary pick up is over at 3:35.
