Performance MEP works like a charm High reliability F1 alone – F2 alone – F1 first and then F2 – F2 first and then F1 Persistent state No drama In general true from the start We have had some issues and problems Many hundreds of operating hours have been logged Many hundreds of failure free hours on the various subsystems MEP operating hours Starting on 4 January 2017, we have had ~240 operating hours MEP failure free hours We have had a few re-starts to the FFH counter The most recent re-start was March first LNPS1 overvoltage problem Now ~118 + 10 hours
Calibration Co-I hardware institutions have delivered fully calibrated sub-assemblies Fully calibrated and verified at home institutions – to front end Simple calibrations at FIELDS I&T to verify and fill in gaps For example: V1234 PAs, SCM, V5 As FIELDS is integrated at UCB Several verification cals in ambient and at temperature as reference Using external stimuli and/or isolation Using sensor/probe isolation Using flight hardware receivers – RFS, DFB, TDS and MAGs Using flight hardware sensors As FIELDS is integrated with spacecraft at APL Same process Using isolation and stimuli in ambient and S/C TV As FIELDS enters/exits perihelion Using SCM internal cal circuit Calibration S/C rolls Internal antenna bias sweeps
Calibration Sub-assemblies were delivered fully calibrated For example, to receiver front-ends Preliminary end-to-end calibrations from the sensor inputs have been done But not: Using flight harnesses Using flight V1234 preamplifiers in final configuration with antennas Using flight SCM FM2 We propose to repeat the end-to-end calibrations at the S/C level With simple electrical GSE When flight antennas/PAs arrive When flight SCM arrives Can be done late in the APL workday and as time allows
