Student Responsibilities

1. Attend CCP meeting or view online informational PowerPoints, and turn in the signed “Counseling Requirement” and “Intent to Participate” form prior to April 1st.

2. Decide which College or University you would like to attend. Pick up information tonight regarding application requirements and procedures. Make sure you have met with your high school counselor regarding number of classes you would like to take at Columbian. Understand how many classes (sem. hours) you are eligible to take at your college/university. ** See additional handout for formula***

3. Fulfill all admissions requirements for your college/university of choice. Know GPA requirements. Take college entrance exam (ACT/SAT/Accuplacer) Any additional requirements

4. Apply to the college/university. Please fill out a transcript request form to have your high school transcript sent to the college, or see your Columbian school counselor The student will then mail or deliver the completed application to the college/university.

5. Wait on acceptance letter The college or university will let you know orientation and scheduling dates Make note of who your CCP advisor is

6. Attend orientation and meet with your CCP advisor to set your college schedule. Go to https://transfercredit.ohio.gov to see if your college credits will transfer to the college you plan to attend after graduation.

7. If taking a college class to replace a high school graduation requirement, complete the “substitution form” and turn it in to your high school counselor with a copy of the course description.

8. Turn in a copy of your college schedule to your Columbian counselor. If at any point your schedule changes, you must submit an updated schedule to your Columbian counselor as soon as possible. This includes Adding/Dropping classes.

9. Calculate allowable CCP hours Understand the total number of college credits you would be permitted to take within the academic school year. Please see handout for calculating your total amount of allowable credit hours.
