Statistics Horizon Behavioral Health 362 active clients in outpatient SUD treatment from Jan to June 30% (108) have an Opioid Use disorder 26 using Heroin 82 using Other Opiates/ Synthetics (such as Codeine, Dilaudid, Morphine, Demerol, etc.) Opiates are the primary drug of abuse for 67 of the 108, with Heroin being primary for 15 clients and Other/ Synthetic being primary for 52. Statistics Lynchburg Comprehensive Treatment Center Has served 450 patients since Jan 2015 Currently sees approximately 200 patients daily Average age is 36 70-75% of patients started on prescribed opioids Of those, roughly 25% were using heroin at the time of admission (due to unavailability of continuing to be able to obtain prescriptions and heroin being cheaper and more available.) Statistics Centra-Community Action Committee on Opioid Abuse in Pregnancy Centra reports a 63% increase from 2014 to 2015 in NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) admissions to the neonatal unit. 60% of women treated in Horizon’s SAPT program have an Opioid Use Disorder (Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment), this has doubled in the past 2 years. Lynchburg Comprehensive Treatment Center has treated 21 pregnant patients in the past year: 67% no longer use, 6 in treatment now, 2 have delivered and are still in treatment, 3 voluntarily detoxed out during their treatment.
