Seeking Christ Jesus is eternal – Means he was before all created things – Incarnation – God with us. Jesus fulfilled what it means to be human – life & teaching are essential Jesus’ Passion – his death and suffering – became the sacrificial lamb - Paid the ultimate and permanent cost for Sin Jesus’ resurrection from death – has defeated death – the final enemy – firstborn of eternal life Jesus’ ascension – He returned to take his eternal seat in heaven but left his Spirit as a deposit as a guarantee for when and will come again as final arbiter and King.
Seeking Christ Christ is the Pinnacle Our Capstone & Cornerstone
Seeking Christ Go therefore, while they were on the way, immediately they left, Seek First Participation is required
Serving the community together The “church” is the word ekklesia – those called out! Church is from the German word Kirche meaning house of the Lord – bad translation – at the least it is congregation.
Serving the community together 4 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. 7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Serving the community together
Teaching others Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” Discipleship – at it’s root is a learner. Learners need teachers “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?”
