BuildingSMART DK: Past buildingSMART DK was established as a part of the Nordic Chapter in 1996 Initiated in a dialogue with a large Danish end-user organisation ibb The Digital Construction 2002-2007 a development project 8 million € (EU/public/private) made IFC mandatory in 2007 in state construction project with a total cost greater than EUR 5 million as the first country in the world buildingSMART DK became in 2008 a part of bips a non-profit organisation with more than 600 members BCF, IDM, and IFC are included in bips’ guidelines and recommendation that are widely used in the industry IDM has successfully been used by state clients since 2010 in architectural competitions IFC has since 2013 been mandatory in all public and social housing construction and retrofitting projects (different thresholds) The total amount invested in development projects in Denmark is about EUR 17.5 million. open BIM in Denmark, Jan Karlshøj

BuildingSMART DK: Present In the infrastructure area, a joint initiative has been created as Digital Infra Banedanmark (Rail) Dansk anlægsentreprenører (Danish infrastructure contractors a part of Dansk Byggeri) the tunnel across the Fehmarn belt FRI (the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers) Danish Road Directorate open BIM in Denmark, Jan Karlshøj

BuildingSMART DK: Present Several IDMs have been developed as part of EU support development project by bips (hosting buildingSMART DK) in 2015 Research project documented savings on open BIM Good awareness on IFC in Denmark (2014) released in 2016 and accepted open BIM in Denmark, Jan Karlshøj

BuildingSMART DK: Present The Danish contractor MT Hojgaard and architectural company Juul | Frost won awards in 2014 buildingSMART International “Heroes of interoperability competition” Samples of state projects The public sector and the government mainly see themselves are initiators of the foundation for the use of BIM, whereas the daily operation and maintenance of BIM have to be done by the industry itself, e.g. via professional associations. open BIM in Denmark, Jan Karlshøj
