Intro to Art 9/10/12

Let’s play a game… Geometric Organic I will put a shape on the screen. You and your partner have to decide if it is… Geometric or Organic Hold up your choice for discussion.

1. Geometric or Organic?

2. Geometric or Organic?

3. Geometric or Organic?

4. Geometric or Organic?

5. Geometric or Organic?

6. Geometric or Organic?

Based on the shapes we just categorized as Geometric or Organic: create a definition for each and write them in your practice packet.

Definitions: Geometric Shape: Two-dimensional, created by mathematical laws. Examples: circle, square, triangle, rectangle. Organic Shape: Two-dimensional, irregular or found in nature. Examples: cloud, flower petal, puddle of water.

Independent Practice… Each table has a tub of magazines. Cut out examples of geometric shapes and organic shapes. Glue them in the correct boxes. Fill boxes with MULTIPLE cut out shapes.
