QXF Cable Winding Test and End Parts Design Miao Yu Fermilab 11/15/2012

IL RE Pole Preliminary Design Based on QXF cross-section design 3 BEND program Import the output (a group of points) of BEND to CAD software Create ruling lines and the surface, and then generate the parts

QXF Cable Winding Test Setup L1 RE Pole Mandrel Spacer HQ/LHQ Winding Mandrel Two IL RE pole pieces (rapid prototype) Total winding length ~0.77m

End Parts Design Plan Once the cross-section is chosen, Fermilab will design end parts using BEND. Fermilab and CERN will share the parameters. The parts will be fabricated by laser sintering. Practice coil will be fabricated (LQXF). The “BEND” end parts will be compared with the “ROXIE” end parts.
