Compound A compound sentence refers to a sentence made up of two independent clauses (or complete sentences) connected to one another with a coordinating conjunction. She only pretended to throw the ball, but the dog took off at full speed.

Complex The owner threw it when she saw her dog was ready A complex sentence is made up of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses connected to it. The owner threw it when she saw her dog was ready

Compound-Complex A compound-complex sentence is made up of two independent clauses that are connected by a fan boy and one or more dependent clauses. After the dog caught the ball, he brought it back to his owner, and he waited for her to throw it again.

Knowing this, try once more: When the sun rises, I wake up naturally. I am normally a morning person, but I find it difficult to get up before the sun. Coffee has become a key part in my morning routine. I find that I am only a morning person these days after I have had my morning coffee, but I guess that’s not so uncommon.
