100 Acre Wood Nursery Newsletter – Spring 2016 Welcome back everyone – Happy New Year! We have a few new faces joining us this term, I’m sure that our children and families will welcome their new friends warmly. We start this term off by thinking about space; inspired by many of our children’s love of rockets and by the exciting journey to the Space Station recently taken by Tim Peake. To provide the children with a real idea of the vastness of space, we are planning to run a special space day with a mobile planetarium; more details very soon! Creative Homework We would like you and your child to work together to produce a creative piece of work related to space. You can be as imaginative and creative as you like. Here are a few ideas; Painting collage cooking junk modeling Naming Uniform Please name everything!! This includes coats, scarves, hats and gloves, welly’s and shoes please; we always have a permanent marker in the nursery if you need to use it. We try and rehome all items that we find but sometimes, the children put on the wrong jumper by mistake so should your child come home with something that isn't theirs, please bring it back to nursery and we will get it back to the rightful owner. Thank you A request … We always need extra socks for the children to change into after an accident or jumping too vigorously in puddles! Please dig about in the bottom of your cupboards and pull out any old socks that you can donate to nursery. This term we would also like to make some ‘sock aliens’ so need even more socks; the more colourful the better – we don’t even need to match! Face Paint Some of the children have been pretending to paint each others faces so we thought it would be nice to occasionally allow them to do it for real. We have bought some new Snazaroo face paints but if you would rather your child did not have their face painted then please let us know. They may come home looking ‘interesting’!!
