VS. 11,687 deaths from the 17 FDA approved drugs 12 of these 17 drugs were ones that are often prescribed in place of medical marijuana. Pills kill, become addictive, and are harmful to the body over time. Opiate abuse and addiction is one of the largest problems facing our youth and it doesn’t help to have these prescription drugs. The side effects of these strong drugs are also cause for concern. zero direct deaths from marijuana. marijuana is potentially healing to our pocket-books as well as our bodies. marijuana over pharmaceuticals is that it is not as addictive as most pain and anti- convulsive medication are. With cannabis, people are often able to get off pharmaceuticals all together, or to substantially reduce the amounts they need.

A national market for medical marijuana is worth $1 A national market for medical marijuana is worth $1.7 billion in 2011 and could reach $8.9 billion in five years. Two states, California and Colorado, dominate this nascent industry, combining to represent 92% of the wholesale and retail sales across the country. California enjoys the largest market size at $1.3 billion, while Colorado hosts the fastest growing and most business-friendly market. Nine other states and the District of Columbia with medical marijuana laws have or are forming active markets. Arizona, Michigan and Washington are particularly well- positioned as the industry matures in the next few years. There are 24.8 million potential patients eligible for medical marijuana under current state laws. Medical marijuana businesses face significant challenges including unfavorable tax status and downward pricing pressure but can expect high growth driven by rising new patient adoption

Wasting money on DEA crack down with medical marijuana facilities 6/23/2018 Wasting money on DEA crack down with medical marijuana facilities Even though fifteen states have legalized medical marijuana, the DEA is still cracking down on medical marijuana facilities and shutting them down. However, many others are most concerned about the fact that President Obama is backing off his earlier promises to end the unfair, wasteful, and ineffective war against medical marijuana patients.  Given our severe budget crisis it is unethical and unwise to keep wasting scarce federal, state and local resources waging war against American citizens. If we have legalized it for medical use we should have access to the medication. Jason Wood
