The Graduated Driver License

The Student Learner’s Permit Requirements 16 years of age Parent/Guardian Written Consent Pass written and vision tests Complete 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training

The Student Learner’s Permit Requirements (While driving) Must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21, licensed in NJ, licensed for 3 years Limit one additional passenger *** No driving between 11:01 pm and 5:00 am No use of electronic devices (even Hands Free) EVERYONE must wear seat belts Must have red decal on front and rear plates

The Student Learner’s Permit *** Passenger Restriction *** If the permit holder’s parent/guardian is in the vehicle, there is NO passenger restriction. If the permit holder’s parent/guardian is NOT in the vehicle, there can only be ONE additional passenger. ** The supervisor is NOT considered an “additional passenger.” **
