Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Online Research Online research about Scientific Method, Experimental Design SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Use the class access code given to access the online textbook. Read Chapter 1 about the steps of the Scientific Method, experimentation and experimental design. This task uses: Desktop computer Laptop I-pad Learning Objective(s): SI-H-A1 The student is able to write a testable question or hypothesis when given a topic. SI-H-A2 The student will plan and record step-by-step procedures for valid investigation, select equipment and materials, and identify variables and controls. A Quizlet Quizlet on Scientific Inquiry Terminology AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Students will complete the Quizlet on the following terms found here (https://quizlet.com/149911999/scientific-method-flash-cards/ : Scientific method Observations Hypothesis Experiment Control group Experimental group Variables Independent variable Constants Dependent variable Data Qualitative data Quantitative data This task uses: Desktop computer or Laptop or I-Pad Internet access for www.Quizlet.com Learning Objective(s): SI-H-A1 The student is able to write a testable question or hypothesis when given a topic. SI-H-A2 The student will plan and record step-by-step procedures for valid investigation, select equipment and materials, and identify variables and controls. Educreations Slideshow M Educreations Slideshow Students will create an Educreations slideshow about designing an experiment MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Open the Educreations application on the I-Pad. Use the pencil in the top center to write. Use the eraser in the top center to erase. You may choose the color of text. Use the plus sign on the right to add typed text or photos. Press the capital “A” to add typed text. Press the photo to add photos. Then press the search button and type the image you desire. Choose an image to add to your presentation. Press the arrow on the bottom right to advance to the next slide of your presentation. When the visual part of the presentation is finished, press the microphone (upper right) and narrate your slides as they are advanced. 2. When the presentation is complete, save the finished product. This task uses: I-Pad Educreations App. Learning Objective(s): SI-H-A1 The student is able to write a testable question or hypothesis when given a topic. SI-H-A2 The student will plan and record step-by-step procedures for valid investigation, select equipment and materials, and identify variables and controls. SI-H-A3 The students will use technology when appropriate to enhance lab investigations and presentations of findings. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/email: Jacquelyn S. R Peer Review Students go to teacher’s Blackboard. Students share their Educreations in Blackboard for peer review. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. This task uses: I-Pad Blackboard Educreation videos Students go to teacher’s Blackboard. Students click on Discussion Board tab Students post their Educreations presentation for peer review. Students must review at least two peer presentations. Learning Objective(s): SI-H-A1 The student is able to write a testable question or hypothesis when given a topic. SI-H-A2 The student will plan and record step-by-step procedures for valid investigation, select equipment and materials, and identify variables and controls.
