Latin America Physical and Political map cutaway boxes BY: Emily Biar

The Amazon rainforest is economically important because it provides a large amount of timber, as well as other products like bananas, oranges, coffee beans, and rubber.

The pampas and llanos are economically important because they provide flat land for farming and livestock.

El Niño is a warming of the tropical Pacific ocean with changes in wind velocity and atmospheric pressure. The climate affects the frequency and intensity of storms. It results in droughts or increased flooding.

The panama canal is important as a chokepoint because ships would have to travel farther to reach the Atlantic or Pacific ocean, but the panama canal allows shorter travel and it takes less money and can be used for military transportation for the government.

The Caribbean islands economy makes lots of money from tourism and natural resources like iron, nickel, petroleum, and timber.
