CASE STUDY General Instruction: You are a Master candidate in the field of Rural Development at the School of International Training (SIT). Your Grant is for 2 years. INCOME 1 month Living Allowance : USD 1.170 SPENDING Housing : USD 350 Meals : USD 400 Transportation : USD 45 Monthly Shopping : USD 100 Communication : USD 50 Social Activity : USD 40 Books : USD 80 Total : USD 1.065

Case 1 In the second month in your host institution, your classmates ask you to join him in attending the American Association of Development Research and Training Institute (AADI) General Conference: Insecurity and Development, Regional Issues and Policies for an Interdependent World in Monterey, Mexico, for 5 days. The fee, including transportation and accommodation, is USD 600. Instruction Submit the relevant form.

It seems that your Residence Permit in the USA only last for 3 months. To renew your Residence Permit, you must go to the Town Hall and pay USD 460. Question What can you do?

Question What should you do? Case 5 At the beginning of the 2nd semester, you are told by the University Administration that you haven’t paid this semester tuition fee, in the amount of USD 7,500. The deadline for the payment is in 5 days. You are wondering how to pay such an amount in such a short time. Question What should you do?

Case 7 You remember that your lecturer in Indonesia asked you to subscribe for a scientific journal on Rural Sociology (Rural Development), by Taylor and Francis Group Journal. By subscribing now as a Master student, you can get a discount and no transportation fee is required (compare to subscribing from Indonesia). To subscribe for 6 months, you only have to pay USD 100. Your academic advisor has approved this on-campus employment request. You think that this job is closely related with your study area and highly beneficial to improve your professional skill.
